9 varying exposures of totality were combined using advanced processing techniques to reveal details in the corona. The solar corona makes visible the magnetic field lines created by the sun's internal dynamo, clearly marking the north and south poles of the sun. The longer corona streams tend to come from the sides and extend for millions of kilometers into space. Prominences are visible at 2, 3, and 5 o'clock. The massive blue star Regulus (actually a 4-star system) makes a guest appearance at left.
